I think it’s a two-pots-of-coffee kind of morning.

My art history textbook just included Womanhouse in its chapter on Geometric Abstraction. What is this. Why would you do that. On the plus side, now I have something to argue about for my homework. Which is good, because Geometric Abstraction is pretty cut and dry.

Now that I’ve disassembled and reassembled my bicycle, it’s very, very easy to draw. That’s kind of awesome. I hope to keep that skill by drawing bicycles as often as I can. Aaaaalso now I can laugh at people who choose fixed gear bicycles solely because of their mechanical simplicity. Bitch please. A geared bike is not complicated to figure out, at all.

To savor. At first, at the very beginning. The hesitant pause of being an outsider. I view the landscape starkly, summarily, with an eye towards the big picture, the dramatic sweeps, the way it nestles itself into the other larger landscape of what I find familiar. As an outsider, I see gaping flaws so perfectly obvious to me it seems unjust and cruel that they have not yet been fixed. I see...

New Year's Resolutions
Okay I have not planned this at all haha awesome. But I still like the little categories that I came up with last year, so I’ll just make some random shit up and then try to do it. Sidenote: I like things with numbers attached to them, because then there’s some small measure of objectivity there. If I were to resolve to, “be more respectful to people I hate” or something,...

Suck my dick, Photoshop. You’re really gonna crash on a 55 MB file? Really? I gave you -all- the RAM.

I like New Year’s resolutions. Because change is good, and temporary change is even better. They’re like setting up tiny experiments on yourself, and with like the worst science ever. Fun! For 2011, I resolved to: Art: Draw >80 pages of comics FAIL. I drew about 60 pages, the entire fucking year. Ugh I am ashamed of this one. Unless I’m forgetting some project, which is...

The Chux Wagon: Creative Sparks →
chuxwagon: For over a month now, I don’t think I’ve drawn more than a single line. And really, for at least a couple months before that I was running on fumes (the last scene of Brightest really feels like it fell below my quality bar, honestly). During this last month, the realization that my creative… Gonna buck the trend here and say you gotta draw and write, even if it’s shit,...

Everyone said, oh, Savannah is beautiful, I just love it there! That is untrue. Granted, I have yet to step foot in that ~2 mile square called ‘downtown’ and have instead seen malls and strip malls and used car dealerships and old Pepsi bottling plants and Waffle Houses aplenty. It’s not bad, standard east coast bullshit as far as I can tell, but I wouldn’t call it...

fffff I am sick of moving. This round in particular is kind of a bitch, because I have to ship my bike. ;_; poor babby. Oh and maybe I’m stressed because I’ve never seen the damn place I signed a lease for. Maybe that. I’m also at the really dramatic stage of packing where if I’m in a bad mood I’m inclined to just throw all my shit away instead of wrangle it into...

Brian Wood: Channel Zero →
brianwood: Andy Khouri gives me the Channel Zero interview I’d been waiting for, and also gets more out of me re: my “bleeding” essay from last week. I enjoyed the hell out of this. Please read, and comment. CA: One of the things that people took notice of when Channel Zero was originally…

I am attempting to read D. Gray-Man but I have to stop every chapter or so to giggle. This is the silliest shit ever. It is a manga series about a boy who is an exorcist of, not demons, but deliberately not-translated-from-Japanese akuma. His left arm/hand is a weapon against these akuma. There are crosses everywhere and a plethora of Roman-Catholic imagery, but the main character gleefully calls...

what I want right now is some kind of voice or guideline that says I’m making the right choices, for this exact situation, I am doing the best possible thing. Feeling morally and ethically adrift. I think watching the x files might be my only cure.

Big Goals: Marathon in 2012. Triathlon in 2013. Lifting Goals: 1.2 x bodyweight squat. 8 pull-ups in a set. Bring my deadlift up to novice….which will be like 1.2 x bodyweight. Learn more Olympic lifts! They look like so much fun… no injuries!

Health!
My lifts are at the end of the novice-lifter range and about to move into the intermediate range. I’m measuring off of Rippetoe and Kilgore, because. That’s who you measure off of. Bench Press- Solidly in the intermediate zone! My upper body strength is totally off the charts. Yessss. I blame my obsessive pull-up work. Shoulder Press- intermediate again. Fuck yeah, strong upper...

The artwork of Marius Roosendaal
tylerpedia: texturetumble: Dutch designer and artist Marius Roosendaal is a master of using subtle textures to enhance his beautiful, geometric designs. He’s been running a project called MSCED (make something cool every day) throughout 2011, the sheer quality and quantity of his work is a little staggering.
